Court Appointed Special Advocate of Southern Oklahoma – Volunteer

For the past three years I have volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in southern Oklahoma. I have participated in four legal cases wherein I have investigated circumstances that lead to removal of children from abusive or negligent guardians and advised the judges on the placement of these children. My work to ensure these children consider alternative futures unlike their parents starts with ensuring they have good role-models and a stable childhood.

Navjyoti India Foundation – Volunteer

In 2015, I traveled with the Non-Governmental Organization Navjyoti India Foundation to schools in six remote villages of Haryana to document the impact of their work. This included the introduction of simple measures like the availability of clean, lockable, toilets for girls in schools, or the availability of potable ground water within villages which allowed young girls to attend school instead of walking miles every day to draw water for their households.
